do not want

Retail . . . . .

It's not for the faint of heart.

The weak of stomach.

Or for anyone with a large gun collection.

And yes it has been one of those weeks.

Wish me luck . . .

This following week is going to be very, very, long. Between my 2 jobs I will be working close to 70 hours.

And Shaw's is actually trusting me enough to train for the service desk.  I'm thinking of starting a pool for how long it will take for me to sufficiently
piss a customer off that they boot back to bagging.

Any takers?

I believe. . . .

forcing your employees to listen to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton' s (and I use the term loosely) music should be considered a violation of their constitutional right against cruel and unusual punishment.

On a side note I I feel as if I've been vindicated. For years as child I would be repimaned by teachers for daydreaming, and now I've found that scientist have found it's actually good you.

Take that grammar school teachers!!

Whew!!

I got a bit of good news over the weekend, my hours are not being cut (at least for now) and therefore my benefits are safe.

And even if some where down the line they do need to be cut, my supervisor is well aware that I need to keep my average up.

one of those days

For those of you keeping track at home....

I just broke my 3rd tooth.

I'm going to have to dig up another $600 to get it fixed.

Though I have to say I kept pretty calm about it (that is if you consider swearing for 5 minutes calm).

And CVS is cutting my hours, and if they continue to do so, I'll lose all my benefits.

Ain't recessions fun? T -T

Achoo!!

Well they finally started the construction on CVS (which should have stated last June - only 8 months late) and the now pretty much the whole store is covered in a visible layer of dust which doesn't always come off with a duster.  It's quite annoying and time consuming, because no only do I have to go around the whole store and straighten the items on the shelves, I have to spend a great deal of effort trying to get rid of as much dust as possible. And that's on top of my other responsibilities. In aisle 16 the dust is the worst and it's not a good place to breath. It's like I can feel the dust getting into my lungs and throat.

And one of the day supervisor's made the helpful *rolls eyes* suggestion of washing the items in 16.

Not if I can avoid it.

***********

Every March the Mass Horticultural Society puts on a big plant over at the Bayside Expo.
( If I'm not mistaken it's the longest funning show of it's kind in the world.) It's a beautiful event with plants and flowers ranging from the everyday to the exotic. Plants that I would have only seen in pictures. The exibitors really go out of their way to make their landscaspes look unique and inspiring.

Unfortunetley there won't be the big show, they're scaling it back and instead of the huge Bayside expo, they will be holding somewhere the financial district. It's going to very small.

I'm disappointed, but I guess it's just another sign of how bad things are.

Riddle me this....

What exactly does one do with a bunch of Depends, 3 bottles of K-Y lubrication, contraceptive film, and a replacement cane tip.

That was what was stolen from work.

I don't know whether it was a single person or several persons, it just seemed like an odd assortment of items.

@#%&*$@#*&^#*

The more I work in retail, the more I want to become a recluse.

Or a serial killer.

Hmmm, maybe both.

*sigh* You would think I'd be completely immune to this kind of stuff.......

But I'm not.

About 2 weeks ago we started receiving Christmas stuff over at CVS. At first it was a trickle, but now it's full pallets of the the stuff with large red XM on the box.

Today while I was I at Shaw's the woman who's in charge of the florist came up and showed what she was ordering.

Guess what holiday it was?

VALENTINE'S DAY!

Despite having worked in retail for 18 years, I still still can't help but shake my head in wonder.

Like I said, you'd think I'd be used to it.

Fun at work

So today I had the dubious honor of having to vacuum the whole store where I work. I was doing pretty good, it only took me about 45 minutes. Then I was asked to go upstairs and vacuum the office since I had time.  I got up there and I had a hard time finding a plug, so the supervisor pointed to what looked like a black hole of electrical plugs and wiring, and told me to plug it in there. I did, and then I vacuumed.

After, I carefully pulled the plug out, coiled it up and was about to leave.....

I don't what I did, but it must have been a doozy, cuz the computer was down, the phones were down, and the registers..........well they worked, just not at peak condition.

Thankfully it was 7 and I was able skulk away.  If I had a tail it would most certainly be between my legs.

I hope they fix everything by tonight.

Oh, an apparently we have asbestos in the basement.

So, how was your week?
